- Comment on Felker's Emulating a Professional Photographer
I think this Felker's photo is very attractive to me. Because his own photos are very similar to those taken by photographer William Eggleston. What attracts me most about this photo is the color and light treatment. The focus and contrast of the whole piece is very effective on this photo. The contrast between light and dark under that light can highlight the characteristics of the bottle. This picture makes me feel the quiet feeling of the afternoon and makes me feel very peaceful. To make this image more attractive, I think I will enlarge the bottle and use a triangular structure to compose the image.
- Emulating a Professional Photographer
The left is Joel Meyerowitz's photograph , the right is mine. I choose Joel's work "On the Road", which uses a symmetrical structural method to show the different states of trees on both sides of the same road. I chose a photo I took on the road, which also imitated Joel's photography method by using symmetrical structures. The difference was that the trees on both sides of the photo I took had similar shapes but different heights. I think the biggest challenge in this assignment is that when I find the photographer's photos, it is difficult for me to find similar works taken from similar angles, because some photos have a sense of time and their angles make me feel a little fuzzy. However, in the later shooting, I found the direction and tried to imitate, and finally found the way to shoot. In the future, I will try and practice shooting more works by imitating and learning other photographers' works as inspiration.
- Multimodal Presentation
My artist of choice is Jeff Wall. Jeff Wall is a Canadian artist known for his large-scale backlit photography and art history writing. He is also considered one of the most influential and important contemporary photographers. Jeff Wall's approach is more like making a movie than documenting reality. The photos are done by posing and reassembling multiple elements of the image, and some stories even build directly on earlier paintings. I chose five pieces that are very representative of his different creative directions. They present their work in ways that mimic early paintings and reorganize elements, pose for social reality, and digitally montage. When it comes to Jeff Wall's photography, people always think of the word "imitation painting". "Imitation" isn't usually a very positive word, but in Jeff Wall's case, it's the other way around - we can imitate. Became an advantage. It's one of the things that changed my view of photography, how he renders the reality of the current landscape through the spatial composition, light, and other details of his paintings. Through his creation, I think it is very important to imitate and find your own style of photography. I also hope that in the future photography process, I can learn more works of excellent photographers, strengthen contact with them, and create my own style of photography. - Comment on Japa's Multimodal Presentation
I thought Japa's speech was very clear and brief. And this demonstration shows his understanding of Henri Cartier-Bresson's work. I think if I need to improve, I can reduce my speaking speed, because it is easy to lose track of the rhythm when I speak too fast. Throughout the presentation, it reflects what we learned in the Criticizing Photographs in Chapter 4 especially in terms of ethically evaluation. In this work, I feel Henri's method of conveying more profound information through simple photos. In addition, the photos are displayed in black and white, which highlights the mystery of the works and the way people can't help but deepen their thinking. Through the introduction, I think Henri's works make me understand that deep photography often only needs a simple way, and excessive color rendering may not make the viewer understand the meaning of the work itself at a glance. - Comments on Sarah's Critiquing Photography
My comment on Sarah;s Blog: I think this photo of yours is really very successful. It shows what an old firetruck looks like. In fact, this is the first time I know what a vintage firetruck looked like, and I think it's very descriptive, it describes what a firetruck looked like at that time, and gives us a comparison with a modern firetruck. - Critiquing Photo Challenge
This is my favorite photo of this task, which shows the symmetry and grandeur of the architectural groups in ancient China, as well as the uniqueness of the ancient architectural methods. Tell us what was the most challenging aspect of this assignment. The most challenging part is to understand the differences in each style and technique, as well as the meaning behind each one. Explain what you will you do in the future to create stronger images. Try taking different photos and use and learn photography methods to create more thoughtful photos.

I think this photo of yours is really a success. This is a moment shot, and against a dark background, the water droplets appear very clear. I think this picture can show the state of the water drop during the fall. The Link of Anthony's blog: https://japarosa0.wixsite.com/anthony-japa/post/dozen-photo-challenge
- Moutain
This is the most satisfying photo I've taken recently. This photo was taken on a cloudy day and shows Analogous Colors. The sky, the mountain, and the tree seem to be mixed into one, and if you do not look carefully, you will even think that the tree on the mountain has disappeared. Although this photo does not show rich colors, its whole will give me a feeling of respect for nature.
